WHAT TO DO ?

Posted in Group:

I am joing this group because I lost my mother to colon cancer almost 18 years ago on January 16,1994. I was her care taker and a young mother myself so I managed all these years but now I have lost my father and brother and sister all to different things in the last 5 years and I was caretaker to my dad and brother and my children are young adults and it is a bit much to deal with. I have spoken to my doctor and she says I suffer from depression so I have taken medication and had a therapist but I can no longer afford the therapist and I don't want to take medication for the rest of my life to deal with life So I am hoping to be able to meet some people who can help me through this time of What do I do now when the only person I have to take care of is me I almost feel like I need someone to need me to have purpose I have spent the majority part of my adult life taking care of someone and now no one needs me I welcome any suggestions
Thank you

I am so sorry for all your losses. I lost my sister to cervical cancer in 2004 & I was diagnosed with colon cancer last April. Cancer SUCKS!

I agree with CK about volunteering. There are also paying jobs in Assisted Living places. Have you considered Meals on Wheels? I don't know if they have that in your town but it is an organization that takes meals to elderly shutins. There are lots of adults that need help. If you got to know someone well, they would feel like family.

I have found if you help someone else, it can take your mind of your own problems.

Keep in mind there is nothing wrong with investing time in yourself. You are a valuable person and deserve spoiling.

Best of everything to you. Keep us posted on your progress.
